Congratulations to anyone that is playing this week!  If you are, you are on the brink of taking home your fantasy league championship!   If you are indeed in your league’s title match, you probably did not read last week’s blog post, where only one of my five “Start ems” posted double-digit points in Week 15, and that was the Miami defense.  The Miami defense posted the tenth post points in ESPN standard scoring leagues, where my four other picks combined for just 13 points.
fullsizerenderBut like most teams, there are tough matchups and injury concerns on every team.  Here are a few suggestions that hopefully help propel you to the top of your fantasy league and league championship!  Here are A-Mac’s start ’em and sit ’em’s for Week 16!

A-Mac’s Week 16 Start Ems’

Ty Montgomery, RB/WR, Green Bay Packers (ESPN 78.9% owned): Montgomery has had a huge postseason run for his fantasy owners, scoring 42 total fantasy points in the last two weeks, topped with a 162 rushing yards and two touchdowns against the Bears last week.  The Packer visit Minnesota to play an important NFC North games against the Vikings.  The Viking defense, while third in total defense, is only 18th against the run, and has allowed four rushing touchdowns in the last five games.
Martellus Bennet, TE, New England Patriots (ESPN 82.4% owned): When Rob Gronkowski went down for the season in Week 11, everyone thought that Bennett would benefit immensely from Gronk’s absence.  However, in the last five games, Bennett has had just one double-digit fantasy point outing.  This week, the Patriots host the Jets who have been shredded by tight ends lately, allowing five touchdowns to the position in the last three weeks.
San Diego Chargers D/ST (ESPN 57.8% owned): Surprisingly, the Chargers check into Week 16 as the twelfth ranked fantasy defense, making them a start-able defense in most leagues.  This week, the Chargers take on the putrid Cleveland Browns, who have permitted opposing fantasy defenses to post double-digit performances in each of the last five games.

A-Mac’s Week 16 Sit Ems’

fullsizerender-1Matt Ryan, QB, Atlanta Falcons (ESPN 97.1% owned):  Matt Ryan’s best fantasy performance came in Week 4 when he threw for 503 yards and four touchdowns against the Carolina Panthers.  Ryan gets one more crack at the Panther defense this week but on the road this time.  The Panthers have been tough to pass against the last two weeks, holding quarterbacks to under ten fantasy points in each of the last two weeks.
David Johnson, RB, Arizona Cardinals (ESPN 100% owned):  Johnson checks into Week 16 as the number one fantasy running back in ESPN standard scoring leagues, scoring 22 more points than Cowboy rookie Ezekiel Elliot.  Each and every week, Johnson posted double digits fantasy points, which makes any fantasy owner happy.  In Week 16, the Cardinals visit the Seattle Seahawks that have held opposing backs to single digit performance in each of the last four weeks.  If you own Johnson, you are definitely playing him, but it will be a struggle to get the usual production he has provided in 2016.
DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Houston Texans (ESPN 97.2% owned): Hopkins had sort of a renaissance in Week 15 when the Texans finally benched Brock Osweiler for Tom Savage.  With Savage in, Hopkins went on the catch eight passes, the most he caught in any game since Week 6.  However, just as Hopkins is finding his stride, the Texans face the Bengals that have been stingy against wide receivers, allowing only two touchdowns to the position in the last five weeks.
